At the recent PCL show in Glen Carbon, Matt Ricehouse looked stellar in his outing.  Ricehouse was facing an opponent with strong and unpredictable standup.  Ricehouse executed a smart gameplan and took the fight to the ground, eventually winning by referee stoppage in Rd. 2.

Also of note is that Ricehouse recently earned his purple belt in BJJ.

Congrats Matt!

Fight me MMA

What a great night to be a fan of St.Charles MMA and Team Vaghi!

The Fight Me! MMA promotion came to town last night at the Family Arena and raised the bar on what an MMA production should look like.

The night started off with Josh Sampo bringing the heat right from the get go.  It was 3 rounds of non-stop action as each fighter displayed great technical abilities both on the feet and on the ground. Josh went on to earn a unanimous decision win and improve his record to 3-0 as a professional.

The third fight of the night saw Lance Benoist taking on a more experience opponent in the imposing Cleburn Walker.  The matchup was deceiving on paper though, as Lance walked right through Walker and made easy work of him.  The fight ended in the first round with a headkick KO by Benoist.

Congrats to both fighters, and all the coaches!

St.Charles MMA fighter Alptekin "Turkish Delight" Ozkilic won the CSC SW Bantamweight title last Saturday night in convincing fashion. The pace was fast as both fighters landed good shots, but in the end it was Alp's superior wrestling in Jiu Jitsu that took the day as he won by RNC in round 2.

In the 2nd round Sampo took over the fight and dominated Rosenbaum, who had no answer for Sampo's Jiu Jitsu and Wrestling. Sampo finished Rosenbaum in the 3rd via RNC. Congrats Josh!

It was a winning weekend for St.Charles MMA and Team Vaghi.

Friday night in Oregon, Pro MMA fighter Tyron "T-Wood" Woodley kept an unblemished record intact with a split decision win over the extremely tough Nathan Coy. It was Tyron's toughest test to date and a great win.

On Saturday night amateur MMA fighter Bobby Russell returned to the cage in Sullivan for a CSC sectional title and Cage Championships featherweight title match against Justin Arnold. The fight moved quickly to the ground and Russell was soon able to tap Arnold with a straight armbar.

Great job to both our fighters!
